Visual artist and filmmaker Sam Williams is taking over Siobhan Davies Studios with his latest video installation, durational performance, films and written word. Sam Williams: Film and Performance weekend, which takes place 6 -8 September, will reflect on the choreographic potential of geographical thinking.
The weekend’s events include the first presentation of Sam Willams’ new installation the actual structure is material, which has been made with support from the inaugural Stuart Croft Foundation Education Award.
the actual structure is the material is a two-channel, cyclical video installation that acts as a personal and conceptual re-tracing of the relationship between body, site and choreographic archive and is a response to the passing of Rosemary Butcher MBE. Butcher, celebrated for her radical choreographic practice, was his friend, mentor and collaborator. The film will be playing in the Siobhan Davies Dance Roof Studio all weekend.
There is also the opportunity to see some durational performance work over the course of the weekend – Latent Commons with Hollie Miller, Karen Callaghan, Leah Marojevic and Seke Chimutengwende and A Fruiting Body with Karen Callaghan.
